Summer is almost here – it’s time to shorten those sleeves.

Words: C. Saramowicz

Whether you’re heading on holiday or staying closer to home, the incoming summer means short sleeved shirts are on the cards. Sure, everyone loves a t-shirt in the warmer months, but if you want to take your holiday outfitting up a notch it’s time to invest in a button down or two.

Printed shirts

If you’re heading to a casual summer event or two, take it up a notch with a printed shirt. Choose a neutral bottom like navy, taupe or white so the shirts can truly shine – for a muted take, try the taupe floral print shirt which features a subtle design that can ease you into statement pieces. If you do choose to go bolder, the Japanese landscape print shirt is great for garden parties or evening drinks. Crafted from a drapey fabric that has a soft hand-feel, a Cuban collar adds a relaxed holiday touch.

Short sleeve Oxford shirts

Summer’s take on a workwear classic, short sleeve Oxfords are an easy way to maintain a level of smart in your weekday outfitting. Crafted from pure sustainable cotton in a range of seasonal colours, our take features a soft, washed finish that feels great on the skin (useful during a heatwave).

Wear them under suiting and you’ll keep cool while looking put together, or combine with chinos or pleated shorts for a softer take.

Knitted shirts

Yes, summer knits are a thing – but you have to get them right. Crafted correctly and they can offer a light and airy feel to your look, all while keeping you cool. Open knit shirts are a great example of this; made from mercerised cotton, the ecru skipper polo has an airy open knit structure which allows air to circulate and cool you down. The textured fabric looks great against smooth cotton shorts, and the classic polo neckline smartens things up nicely.

For a more casual approach, the crochet Cuban can be worn open or closed, which is great for adding depth to your outfit.
